Mambo Jambo is a non-profit project by me, Youngchan Lee. I purchase artwork from local Tanzanian artists to support their work. My goal is to build a supportive community and help Tanzanian artists get more exposure from art collectors throughout Asia!

In the summer of 2022, I travelled to Tanzania to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. At the mountaintop, I felt empowered, having conquered one of the highest mountains in the world. However, while spending time afterwards in the towns of rural Tanzania, I noticed many talented local artists struggling to make ends meet. I knew I wanted to do something for them, so I started Mambo Jambo!

Emmanuel was born in 1992 in Tanga, Tanzania. he’s the only son of his biological mother but has 8 siblings on his father’s side. His father died when he was only three years old, and his mother passed away when he was twelve years old. During his time in secondary school, he met a friend who was drawing art. He was intrigued and asked his friend to teach him. For Emmanuel, art was a miracle. He loved drawing, and he started to earn money through art for the future.

*More artists coming soon!*

I know that art can have a positive impact on our lives. I also believe that we should support artists. But, I can’t do this alone. Please help me make a lasting impact that can help change the world!

For those who purchase artwork from Mambo Jambo, I will personally send you emails to update on my progress and how the artists you purchased from are doing.

Please send me any feedback you wish to give me and I thank everyone for you interest!
